The Cleveland Play House

2001 Bolton Light Booth photo The Electrics staff consist of the Production Electrician Katrina "Kat" Yeigh, the I.A.T.S.E. Master Electrician Shaun Milligan and the I.A.T.S.E. board ops Jody Shankland (Drury) and Pete Campen (Bolton/Baxter). Any spot operators are hired as needed from our run crew pool and are not I.A.T.S.E. There is no I.A.T.S.E. crew support for the Brooks or Studio One theatres.

There is a separate inventory for each of the theatres. There is also a "floating" inventory of units and effects equipment that is shared by all of the theatres. PLEASE be sure to check with the production electrician as early as possible regarding what is available for your show.

A spec sheet for each theatre including line set schedule and soft goods inventory is available along with a list of lighting designer notes for each space. The notes list was created to give the designers the heads-up to some of the quirks and oddities of each space.

The electrics budgets are often quite limited and do not allow for rental of much additional equipment after the purchase of color and templates. Vincent Lighting is located in Cleveland so obtaining perishables quickly is usually not a problem.

The typical production schedule places the light plot due date on the Monday before first rehearsal. The hang usually takes place at the end of the week prior to scenery load-in. If possible a run through of the show is scheduled for the Sunday before the focus. The focus is the Monday of tech week. There is generally time allotted on the Wednesday, before first tech on Thursday, for the lighting designer to set some basic cues, create groups...

We are Lightwright and MiniCAD/VectorWorks users. A disk with the stock and equipment details and ground plans is available upon request.
